We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our video downloader extension.

What We Don't Do

We do not run analytics, automatized crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
We never transmit your usage data to our servers or third parties.

What We Do (Locally Only)

Detect videos on pages you visit by scanning network requests.
Manage downloads through your browser.
Store preferences and download history locally for your convenience (to re-download, etc.). It never leaves your device and you can clear it anytime.
Clear temporary detection data automatically when you close the browser.
Browsing data is used only to power the user-facing feature of detecting and downloading media, and never for ads, analytics, or data sales.

Browser Permissions & Purpose

These permissions enable video detection and downloads. They are used strictly for functionality, not tracking.

Permission Purpose tabs

Read the current tab's address and list your open tabs so detected media can be linked to the page it came from. Only accessed when you interact with the extension.

webRequest webNavigation

Watch network requests and page navigation to detect media streams (HLS, DASH, and progressive audio/video) and collect the metadata needed to present download options. Requests are inspected locally and never logged or transmitted.

declarativeNetRequest

Apply browser-side request rules so protected media can be fetched for download. These rules run inside the browser; the extension does not read your traffic through this API.

scripting

Inject small helper scripts into specific supported sites to locate the media element on the page. They run only where detection requires them.

downloads downloads.open

Start, track, and manage downloads through the browser, and open a finished file when you ask. The "downloads.open" permission is optional, requested only if you choose to open files.

storage unlimitedStorage

Keep your settings and download history on your device, and temporarily hold media data while a download or conversion is in progress. This data stays local.

offscreen

Run a hidden offscreen document to process media locally (such as merging audio and video or converting formats) using browser APIs the background worker cannot use. Nothing leaves your device.

notifications

Show a notification when a download completes or fails.

contextMenus

Add right-click menu entries so you can start downloads directly from the page.

sidePanel

Display the extension's interface in the browser side panel.

browsingData

Clear a page's cookies when you use "Force detection" to reload it. This is an optional permission.

<all_urls>

Host access lets the extension run on any website so it can detect and download media on the pages you choose to use it on. Detection happens locally, and your browsing is never tracked or sent anywhere.

What "Report" button does

When you click on the report button, we send the address of the web page to our server.
We store the extension version number, user agent, bug stack trace, and the origin of the download.
We do not use or store any details about the identity of the bug reporter.
No IP, no fingerprinting, no cookies, no ids. The bug report is anonymous.

Ruleset ping

Every 24 hours, the webextension fetches a JSON file from our server.
While doing so, no information is sent from the webextension to the server.
That JSON file contains some up-to-date behavior instructions for the video detection mechanism.

Data Security

All video detection, media processing, and downloading happens locally in your browser.
We do not transmit your browsing or usage data to our servers. The only network activity is the daily ruleset fetch and the anonymous bug report you choose to send, both described above.
Removing the extension deletes all local data.
